They also significantly reduce the carbon fines found in many granular canisters. Chloramine can exhaust your DI resin really quickly, so if your local water has chloramine you need to either prefilter using a chloramine carbon block and ideally a 2nd standard carbon block or GAC, or an ammonia reducing DI resin.
