Hibiscus ‘Japanese Lantern’ (Hibiscus schizopetalus)This Central African Hibiscus species has an upright and spreading form which highlights the deeply curved petals and dangling stamens. Often called Japanese Lantern, it's a sporadic bloomer. But when it does flower, watch out! Grow in rich, well drained soil and provide plenty of water and fertilizer. Since flowers form on new wood, regular pruning helps to maintain a nice shape and stimulate more blooms.
