Decades of aging has given this material a very unique rich brown color, like all vintage material this stuff is in short supply and when it is gone it is gone for good. Bog oak is formed from oak that has fallen into acidic peat bogs and over a long period of time begins the process of fossilization

The piece I used for this handle was cut from the center of the rod so it shows a very light patina on the edges that will darken with time
